The Vicenza Cougars had a lot to gain with three Division I teams in town this weekend. By the end of it, they'd seemingly gained it all.

Vicenza played its way deeper into the Division I title picture Saturday with a 5-0 shutout of the Vilseck Falcons. The win came a day after an impressive 4-3 victory over Stuttgart and completed a triumphant weekend homestand for the Cougars. Chris Ortiz and Richard Poropat scored twice each, Marco Peruzzo added a goal and all three of the above registered an assist in the shutout victory.

Both teams unleashed plenty of assaults on the goal, with Vicenza taking 16 shots and Vilseck offering 11. Each team lined up a pair of corner kicks in the busy back-and-forth action.

Vicenza's pair of wins positions it favorably in the Division I race as the tournament approaches. The Cougars have only a May 7 game against Division II Florence remaining on their regular-season schedule.

Brussels 6, AFNORTH 2: Saturday at Brussels, the Brigands continued their strong season with another outstanding offensive effort.

Tim Wilkinson led Brussels with three goals, Aljaz Urbanc scored twice and added an assist and Alex Crowson notched a goal and an assist in the win. Goalkeeper Dominick DeFazio made six saves in goal.

Jorge Barrasa scored both goals for struggling AFNORTH.

Bitburg 3, Baumholder 0: At Baumholder, the visiting Barons entered the win column for the second straight weekend with a shutout win of the Bucs.

Sage Kown scored two goals to lead the victory. Ruben Cruz added a goal and Austin Wittnebel and Jason Cruz each notched an assist for Bitburg.

The Barons have two tough Division II opponents standing between them and the European tournament. They'll host Hohenfels next weekend and travel to Black Forest Academy on May 14.

Black Forest Academy 7, Aviano 1: Saturday at Aviano, the Falcons routed the homestanding Saints.

Seven different Falcons found the net in the runaway win, the second in as many games marking BFA's visit to Italy. The Falcons handled American Overseas School of Rome 7-0 on Friday.

The 2-0 weekend improved BFA to 5-0 since the Division II squad opened its regular season on April 16. A test against Division I power Stuttgart awaits next weekend.

Hohenfels 8, American Overseas School of Rome 1: Saturday at Aviano, the visiting Tigers secured a 2-0 weekend of their own with a rout of the Falcons.

Kiernan Blouin scored five goals to pace the Tigers, while Nicholas Cantu, Cylan Blouin and Jacob Nantz contributed one goal apiece.

The win came a day after Hohenfels eked out a 4-3 defeat of Aviano, the host team for the weekend's four-school Division II gathering.

Lakenheath 8, AFNORTH 1: Friday at Brunssum, Netherlands, the Lancers whipped the host Lions.

Ethan Fitzgerald totaled three goals and two assists in the rout, while Tristin Reyes had two goals and two assist.

International School of Brussels 3, Lakenheath 2: Saturday at Brussels, the host Raiders gritted out a win in an evenly matched Division I meeting.

ISB scored twice late in the game to reverse a one-goal Lakenheath lead. An Arthur Everard goal in the 65th minute squared the score, then a decisive strike by Jurriaan Kruidenier tilted it in ISB's favor seven minutes later.

Ryota Nakamura scored a first-half goal for the Raiders; Ethan Fitzgerald had a score and an assist for the Lancers.
