Bamberg edges Sigonella to stay perfect

NAVAL AIR STATION SIGONELLA, Sicily - The Bamberg Barons improved to 2-0 by pushing across a fourth-period TD and hanging on for the win Saturday over the hosts from Signonella.

No details about Bamberg’s performance were available at presstime on Saturday. The Barons, who trailed 6-0 at the end of the first quarter, are to host Alconbury on Saturday.

Sigonella, which rushed for 305 yards and three TDs and passed for 76 yards and its other score, seesawed back-and-forth with their guests. It was 13-13 at halftime.

Collin Gantt led the Jaguars with 144 rushing yards and two TDs; Antonio Garcia gained 100 yards and ran for a TD, according to Sigonella coach Matt McKown.

“We’ve been waiting for a game like this out of our players,” McKown emailed about his 0-3 squad which is scheduled to travel to Menwith Hill on Saturday. “ We showed flashes of potential against Rota and Baumholder.”
