Asbury airs it out as Lakenheath dumps K-town

RAF LAKENHEATH, England - Alex Asbury completed 22-of-35 passes for 331 yards and five touchdowns Saturday as the Lakenheath Lancers riddled the visiting Kaiserlautern Red Raiders 41-14.

Glenn Jones hauled in five passes, good for 185 yards and two touchdowns, and Kyle Capogna grabbed four, two of them for touchdowns to help Lakenheath (1-2 overall and in Division I) win its first game of the season. A.J. Ransom, who rushed for a TD, caught three balls from 77 yards and a touchdown.

Xavier Thompson rushed the ball 18 times for 90 yards for the Lancers, whose defense limited K-town’s offense to a rushing TD by quarterback Devin Joseph. K-town’s other TD came on a punt return by Damian Kirk.

Capogna led the way with eight stops, according to Lakenheath coach Matt Martinez, who credited Zach Harris and James Griffin with five tackles each and Zach Lewis with a pass interception.

K-town (0-3) returns home to host Patch on Saturday. Lakenheath (1-2) is scheduled to make its final stop for all time at Heidelberg the same day.
