ESPN’s ‘Mike and Mike’ to begin airing on AFN
Good news, sports fans.
“Mike and Mike in the Morning,” a popular sports radio show produced by ESPN, will begin airing on American Forces Network radio beginning Monday.
The program is hosted by Mike Greenberg, an ESPN sports anchor and ABC game-show host, and Mike Golic, a former Notre Dame and NFL lineman.
In a Friday news release, AFN Europe announced that PowerNet will air the program from 1-2 p.m. following the NPR Morning Edition news program.
PowerNet radio has traditionally aired sports radio programming, the release said, but AFN received several complaints last year concerning inappropriate language and content.
“The network switched to another sports talk show but the problem persisted,” the release said. “As a stop gap measure AFN Europe’s radio department set up an automated music and sports news program called ‘SportsWatch’ until a solution could be found.”
That solution is “Mike and Mike in the Morning.” Local sports coverage will continue to air in AFN’s “NewsWatch” programs and the “Connections” show, the release said.
