TOKYO – Game 1 of the World Series between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Texas Rangers on Wednesday night will be dedicated to the cause of supporting veteran’s and their families, according to Major League Baseball.

First lady Michelle Obama and Jill Biden, wife of Vice President Joe Biden, will attend the game to raise awareness and encourage Americans to support and honor veterans and their service, according to an MLB news release.

Prior to the game, Obama, Biden and representatives of MLB and the host Cardinals, including hall of famer and Army veteran Red Schoendienst, will attend a St. Louis VA Medical Center military family appreciation event, according to the release.

Obama and Biden also will participate in a special pregame ceremony with veterans and military families at Busch Stadium.

Before the game, the women will answer questions about their Joining Forces campaign. People can submit questions through MLB’s Facebook page or on Twitter with the hashtag #AskMichelle.
