Matthew Burke covers Sasebo Naval Base and and Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan.
Burke joined Stripes in May, 2011, after serving as a staff writer for the Cape Cod Times daily newspaper in Massachusetts and traveling abroad. After graduating from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2005, he worked as a freelancer for several papers in the Boston area, including the Boston Globe, after he which he joined a collection of local weekly papers on Cape Cod as a staff writer.
