Strasbourg, France, November 7, 1958: The audience at a concert by Bill Haley and his Comets gets into the music. Haley was a country and western musician until he went in a new direction in the early 50s and formed the Comets, generally regarded as the first rock and roll band. Their 1954 hit, Rock Around the Clock, sold 25 million copies.
