Izmir, Turkey, June 30, 1974: David Janssen, star of TV's The Fugitive, relaxes before an Izmir Press Association banquet. Janssen discovered that the show, which filmed its last episode in 1967, was very popular in Turkey. "This, of course, has been very gratifying," he said of the attention he was getting on his visit, "but it has been a bit tough to get around." In The Fugitive, Janssen played a doctor wrongly convicted of killing his wife; the plot revolved around his escape and search for the one-armed killer. The show's final episode, in which he was exonerated, attracted a 72 percent audience share.
