Tokyo, December 7, 1973: 1½-year-old Ikuko Fukaya doesn't seem to be enjoying her meeting with Boston Red Sox baseball star Carl Yastrzemski at Asakusa Senso-ji Temple — maybe she's just a Yankees fan. Yaz was just vacationing in Japan, but the trip turned into a media frenzy when it was rumored in the Boston press that the future Hall of Famer was exploring the possibility of signing with a Japanese team. He denied the report, and went on to play 10 more seasons in Boston.
