South Vietnam, December, 1968: Comedian Joey Bishop — late-night TV host, member of Frank Sinatra's "Rat Pack" — stands on the deck of a Q-boat during a 20-mile trip from Newport Pier to Cat Lai. Bishop and actress Tippi Hedren, right, were escorted to Cat Lai by MP river patrol boats that fired flares and sprayed water in honor of the celebrity guests who were beginning their tour of bases in Vietnam.
