Berlin, May 21, 1961: Actor Spencer Tracy relaxes during a press conference marking the end of filming of a portion of "Judgment at Nuremberg" in the divided city. Several scenes representing postwar Nuremberg were filmed in Berlin because of the wreckage that could still be found near the border of East Berlin. The film opened later that year, and earned several Oscar nominations including best actor (Tracy) and best director (Stanley Kramer). Maximilian Schell eventually won the best actor Oscar for his portrayal of the attorney for accused Nazi war criminals.
