Coblenz, Germany, April 11, 1951: Gen. Dwight Eisenhower reacts as he hears the news that Gen. Douglas MacArthur has been relieved of his command in the Far East by President Truman. "Well, I'll be darned," said Eisenhower. Stripes photographer Red Grandy's shot ran in Life magazine and several other international outlets, and earned him a top award from Editor and Publisher magazine.
