Frankfurt, Germany, January 1, 1955: As Alfred Hitchcock listens to an interviewer's question, the camera's flash casts a shadow that produces a scene reminiscent of the opening of the famed director's TV show, in which he would step into the frame to cover a silhouette. Hitchcock, riding the success of Dial M for Murder and Rear Window, was working on To Catch a Thief (starring Cary Grant and Grace Kelly), filmed on the French Riviera. He was greeted at the Rhein-Main airport by actor Joseph Cotten.
