Fort Bragg's Automated Entry System will be down for two days this week while the system in upgraded.
From midnight Wednesday through 4 a.m. Friday, security personnel will manually check identification and passes at Fort Bragg gates.
The automated system was installed late last year.
"The AIE system is working well and meeting our security requirements, but as with all computer-based technology, from time to time the system needs updates," said Benjamin Abel, a Fort Bragg spokesman.
Visitors to Fort Bragg will still need to go through the All American Visitor Center during the upgrades.
The center will continue to conduct background checks and issue visitor passes for those with military identification.
