Army fuel destroyed in fire near Fort Bliss
EL PASO, Texas — A 10-ton Army fuel tanker was destroyed in fire Friday morning near Fort Bliss, military officials said.
The fire occurred about 9:30 a.m. under a Loop 375 overpass in Northeast El Paso while a military convoy was returning to Fort Bliss from a field exercise, officials said.
Fort Bliss officials said that the truck's crew saw flames coming from under the tanker and got out safely. Fort Bliss firefighters extinguished the fire. There were no reported injuries.
The Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck can carry 2,500 gallons of fuel to refuel other vehicles. An investigation will be done to determine the cause of the fire.
