Are all military funerals created equal? Patriot Guard says no

A debate has broken out within a military community over whether large motorcycle escorts should be provided for all military funerals, or only those for troops killed in action.

Wichita, Kan., TV station KWCH reports that members of the Gold Star Mothers have asked the Patriot Guard to expand its mission to include all servicemember funerals, saying anyone who's willing to sacrifice for their country deserves the honor.

Patriot Guard founder Terry Houck tells KWCH that the group's mission is to shield families from protesters at the funerals of troops who are killed in action or casualties of the war on terrorism.

"For them to die in a motorcycle accident or an auto accident, you can't put them in the same category," he told KWCH.
