Thomasville head coach Keith Gwaltney called it a "landmark day" for the Thomasville soccer program Thursday morning when Alex Peralta signed his letter of intent to play at West Point in front of a full media center at the high school.
Peralta is the first Division I soccer signee from Thomasville. He'll begin his final Bulldog season Friday night with a scrimmage against Atkinson County at Veterans Memorial Stadium at 7:30 p.m. The regular season begins Tuesday at Valdosta.
Peralta announced his decision to play at West Point in early November.
"There are so many pros to a service academy," Peralta said late last year. "The pros of going to school for free, playing soccer, serving your country and getting a first-rate education."
