Report: Relative says bin Laden wanted kids to avoid terrorism, move to the West

A relative of Osama bin Laden states that the former leader of the al-Qaida terrorist group wanted two of his younger children to go to college in the West, and live in peace rather than embrace terrorism, Fox News reported, citing a report in the Sunday Times out of London.

Zakaria al Sadah reportedly said his brother-in-law was adamant that his children "should not follow him down the road to jihad," Fox reported.

Bin Laden was killed in May during a raid carried by U.S. Navy SEALs on his compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan. The two children cited in the news reports, ages 4 and 5, were reportedly born at the compound.

Sadah also reportedly said bin Laden "regrets" the impact the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in the United States had on his family, according the Fox report on bin Laden wanting his children to avoid terrorism.
