Doug Wilson, assistant secretary of defense for public affairs and the highest-ranking openly gay civilian in the Pentagon, delivered the keynote address at OutServe's Armed Forces Leadership Summit on Oct. 15, 2011. The summit, which drew more than 200 active duty gay and straight troops, was the first military conference to tackle gay rights since the repeal of "don't ask, don't tell."
