Sasebo hoping to reopen NMCRS soon

SASEBO NAVAL BASE, Japan — The local branch of the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society — which closed about three weeks ago when its director resigned — may reopen soon, base officials said.

The office closed because regional NMCRS administration in Japan did not have a new manager in the wings when Jessica Grant resigned, officials said. Her Navy husband received permanent-change-of-station orders.

Anyone needing emergency NMCRS help while the local office is closed should contact the Yokosuka Naval Base office between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, by calling DSN 243-7905, or commercial from Japan at 03117-43-7905, or by e-mailing Kelley Finch at: finchkel@japana.nmcrs.org.
