NAPLES, Italy — A 29-year-old sailor from North Carolina has died of non-combat related injuries while home on leave, the Pentagon announced Monday.
Lt. Leonard Robinson was serving in an administrative role at the Naval Branch Health Clinic in Bahrain when he returned to North Carolina to visit family, said Rebecca Perron, spokeswoman from Navy Medicine East public affairs. He died Dec. 15 in Fayetteville, N.C. Navy officials would not describe the cause of death.
Robinson was from Spring Lake, a small town near Fort Bragg, the sprawling U.S. Army installation in central North Carolina.
Robinson was the recipient of a Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal and the Joint Service Achievement Medal, Perron said.
