YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan — A U.S. C-12 logistics support aircraft made an emergency landing at Fukushima Airport at about 7 p.m. Thursday night.

Crew in the aircraft, on a flight from Naval Air Facility Atsugi in Tokyo to Naval Air Facility Misawa, in northern Japan, noticed smoke in the cockpit, according to Senior Chief Daniel Sanford, a Misawa public affairs officer.

"They did some emergency procedures and the smoke dissipated, but they asked to make a precautionary landing," he said.

There were no injuries among the six-person crew, Sanford said.

A team of personnel from Misawa was at Fukushima on Friday inspecting the aircraft, he said.
