India tests nuclear-capable missile
New Delhi -- India Thursday successfully tested a nuclear-capable, ballistic missile from an eastern military base, officials said.
The surface-to-surface missile with a range of 350 kilometres was fired from a test range at Chandipur in the state of Orissa, Defence Research and Development Organization spokesman Ravi Gupta said.
The Prithvi-II missile is one of the five being developed under the country's Integrated Guided Missile Development Programme. "The test met all mission objectives," Gupta said.
The medium-range missile can carry a 500-kilogram warhead.
