New general to assume command of 25th ID in Hawaii
Army Maj. Gen. Charles A. Flynn will assume command of the 25th Infantry Division on Friday, May 2, at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii.
He will replace Maj. Gen. Kurt Fuller, who has commanded the Tropic Lightning Division since April 5, 2012. He will move on to an assignment in Washington, D.C.
Flynn is coming to the 25th ID from Fort Bragg, N.C., where he has served as the assistant deputy chief of staff for readiness at U.S. Army Forces Command.
A graduate of the University of Rhode Island, Flynn is former acting commanding general of the Army Combined Arms Center at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., and deputy commanding general of the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg.
There also will be other leadership changes at the 25th Division this summer.
Brig. Gen. Bryan P. Fenton, currently deputy director of strategy, plans and policy at the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for the Army in Washington, D.C., will become one of the 25th Division's newest deputy commanding generals, the Pentagon announced Monday.
Other changes in the Army leadership in Hawaii include at Fort Shafter. Maj. Gen. James F. Pasquarette, chief of staff at U.S. Army Pacific, will be promoted to deputy commanding general. Replacing Pasquarette as chief of staff will be Brig. Gen. Todd B. McCaffrey, currently deputy commanding general for operations at the 25th ID.
At Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Brig. Gen. Evan M. Miller, currently vice superintendent of the U.S. Air Force Academy, will become to director of logistics at Headquarters, Pacific Air Forces.
Miller will replace Brig. Gen. Carl A. Buhler, whose next assignment will be to commander of Ogden Air Logistics Complex at the Air Force Materiel Command at Hill Air Force Base in Utah.
