Navy Region Northwest commander moving to Guam

NAVAL BASE KITSAP-BANGOR, Wash. — Rear Adm. Babette Bolivar, who became commander of Navy Region Northwest on June 14, already has her next duty assignment.

She’ll be moving to Guam, where she’ll serve as U.S. Pacific Command representative, Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Jonathan Greener announced Tuesday.

The dates and her replacement haven’t been determined.

Bolivar is the first woman to command the region. She comes from a diving background, qualifying in 1989 and being inducted into the Women Divers Hall of Fame in 2005. She was also the commanding officer of Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit One.
