The command master chief of the guided-missile destroyer USS Dewey has been relieved because of a “loss of confidence in his ability to fulfill his role,” the Navy announced Friday.
Master Chief Petty Officer Joe Grgetich was relieved Thursday by Capt. Lyle Stuffle, commodore of Destroyer Squadron 1, the service said in a news release.
A Naval Service Force Pacific spokesman told NavyTimes.com that the firing was related to “personal conduct” that occurred before Grgetich became senior enlisted leader of Dewey, based in San Diego.
Last week, the commanding officer of San Diego-based Coastal Riverine Squadron 3 was removed after an investigation into “personnel issues and actions.”
Senior Chief Petty Officer Katy Willdigg temporarily will take over Dewey’s CMC duties.
