Memorials this week for John David Harris, who was killed last week in a motorcycle crash, include an organized motorcycle ride to complete the Navy officer’s ride home.
Harris, 36, died after being struck Wednesday in a Silverdale intersection. He was on his way home to his house in Port Orchard where he lived with his wife.
The sight of a flock of motorcycles would have pleased him, said Shannon Harris, his wife.
“He would love it,” she said.
At 4 p.m. Thursday, riders will rally at the Silverdale Target. The ride starts at 4:30 and will continue into South Kitsap.
A viewing is scheduled 4-8 p.m. Friday at Tuell-McKee Funeral Home, 2215 Sixth Ave., Tacoma. A memorial will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
A Missouri native, Harris was an aviation maintenance duty officer assigned to Naval Air Station Whidbey Island. He also had been assigned to the USS John C. Stennis and had lived in Poulsbo before moving to Maryland for three years in 2009. The couple moved back to Kitsap in 2012.
