Twenty-two Marines were injured Thursday when the fire extinguisher in an amphibious assault vehicle accidentally went off during a training exercise in Twentynine Palms, Calif., Marines said.
The injured Marines, members of 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, were participating in an integrated training exercise at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center when the accident happened.
Some of the injured Marines are being treated at local hospitals, and they are all stable, according to a news release.
