Fire destroys bank, Camp Henry's only ATMs

SEOUL — A fire destroyed the Community Bank building Saturday at Camp Henry in Daegu.
No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire, which sent thick columns of smoke over the city, is under investigation. Foul play is not suspected, according to U.S. Army Garrison Daegu spokesman Philip Molter.
Both Camp Henry and Daegu’s Jung-gu fire department responded to the blaze, which was reported shortly after 3 p.m. The fire was under control by 6:30 p.m. and extinguished an hour later.
Damage was confined to Building 1545, which also houses the 19th Expeditionary Sustainment Command’s Headquarters and Headquarters Company. Damage estimates were not immediately available.
The bank, which housed Camp Henry’s only automated teller machines, is normally open on Saturdays but was closed due to a scheduled power outage related to construction at a nearby gate.
No one was in the building at the time.
