GRAFENWOEHR, Germany — A soldier attached with the Vilseck, Germany-based 2nd Cavalry Regiment was killed Saturday evening in a single vehicle crash near the town of Kaltenbrunn, police said.

Albrecht Haupt, a spokesman for the Oberpfalz police, told Stars and Stripes the 30-year-old woman lost control of her car on a stretch of highway heading toward Tanzfleck, a residential area for American soldiers in the Vilseck-Grafenwoehr area. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 2nd Cavalry Regiment could not immediately be reached for comment, but it is standard procedure to not release the name of the deceased until the next-of-kin has been notified.
