NATO close air support exercise kicks off
Exercise Ramstein Rover 2012, a two-week training mission for NATO’s close air support providers, begins Wednesday and runs to Sept. 21 in the Czech Republic.
The training, which is being staged from various Czech air bases and training grounds, is organized by NATO’s Headquarters Allied Air Command at Ramstein Air Base, Germany.
The exercise aims to provide training for forward air controllers who will be deployed in support of NATO’s mission in Afghanistan.
Aircraft and air control teams will be provided by the Czech Republic, Belgium, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Latvia, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the United States.
