DOD identifies 2nd Stryker soldier killed in Afghanistan
A memorial is scheduled Dec. 29 in Vilseck, Germany, for a 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment soldier killed this week in Kandahar province in Afghanistan.
Pfc. Conrado D. Javier, 19, of Marina, Calif., died Sunday of wounds from a roadside bomb, according to a Department of Defense release.
He was assigned to the 2nd SCR’s 3rd Squadron out of Vilseck. He is the third soldier from the squadron to die this month in Afghanistan. Sgt. James A. Ayube and Spc. Kelly J. Mixon were killed Dec. 8 in Balkh province from wounds sustained when an insurgent attacked their unit with a bomb.
Twelve 2nd SCR soldier have perished since the unit deployed to Afghanistan, including two noncombat-related deaths, according to Army casualties reported by DOD.
The memorial service will be at 10 a.m. at the Rose Barracks cavalry chapel.
