Lawmaker asks DOD to review cases for possible upgrade to Medal of Honor

A California lawmaker is calling for a full review of top military medals to see if deserving heroes were passed over for the Medal of Honor, citing the story of Sgt. 1st Class Alywn Cashe as a prime example of officials downplaying battlefield valor.

Hero Cashe’s grave displays wrong military award

Sgt. 1st Class Alwyn Cashe was awarded the Silver Star six years ago for running into a burning Bradley multiple times to save his fellow soldiers. But amazingly, as top Army officials consider whether to upgrade that honor, Cashe’s grave site doesn’t even reflect the award he did receive.
