Deployed soldier watched stabbing attack on pregnant wife

A deployed soldier chatting with his pregnant wife on FaceTime watched helplessly Wednesday as a fellow soldier repeatedly stabbed the woman, according to several media reports.

Pvt. Justin Pele Poole was in Southwest Asia as wife Rachel Poole, nine months pregnant with their child, started screaming. Pvt. Poole took to Facebook immediately to get help.

“If u are seeing this message find out what ... hospital my wife is in and tell me the ... whereabouts of Corey moss. He ... went to my house while I’m deployed and stabbed her ten today [sic],” he wrote.

The El Paso, Texas, woman was stabbed in the face and on her body. She was also beaten, sustaining multiple fractures. She managed to yell out her attacker’s name — Corey Bernard Moss, a 19-year-old soldier who was training at nearby Fort Bliss. Moss’ rank could not be ascertained by deadline.

The base’s police force soon located Moss and turned him over to El Paso police. He faces charges of criminal attempted murder. His bond was set at $60,000.

El Paso police are still fleshing out the motives, according to a report in the New York Daily News. Moss was financially in debt to the Pooles. Pvt. Poole allegedly let the teen borrow a car while he was away on deployment, KFOX14 reported. Moss managed to damage the car and owed the Pooles money for vehicle repairs. Rachel Poole is still hospitalized and in critical condition, according to El Paso detective Mike Baranyay.

Their baby daughter, Isabella, was later born in the hospital following a successful cesarean section, her stepfather, Gary Jones, told ABCNews.com, and is in good health.
