Arson suspected in two fires in Kaiserslautern, reward offered

KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany — Two buildings on Kleber Kaserne were struck by suspicious blazes early Tuesday.

The U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the “aggravated arson” of the two buildings. In the basement of Building 3242, which houses some soldiers of the 66th Transportation Company, trash was set ablaze at about 1 a.m. Tuesday, according to a posting on U.S. Army Garrison Kaiserslautern’s official Facebook page.

Soon after responding to the call, firefighters responded to Building 3246, where a couch was on fire in a basement recreation room. Both were easily extinguished, according to the garrison.
