A general with the 82nd Airborne Division who was recently removed from his job in Afghanistan has been reassigned to Fort Bragg, N.C., according to a report in the Fayetteville Observer.
Army Brig. Gen. Jeffrey A. Sinclair, who had been the division's deputy commanding general for support in Afghanistan, is back at Fort Bragg to serve as a special assistant to the commanding general of the 18th Airborne Corps, the Observer reported. Such a job for a high-ranking officer is often temporary, usually indicating the officer is between assignments or perhaps under some sort of investigation.
Sinclair had been the deputy commander for support since July 2010.
The Observer, quoting base officials in its report Friday, said no information was available to explain why Sinclair is being investigated or what the timeframe of the investigation might be.
The Defense Department announced earlier this month that Brig. Gen. Timothy P. McGuire would replace Sinclair as deputy division commander, according to the report.
