Applications for military children scholarships due Feb. 24
STUTTGART, Germany — Applications for the 2012 Scholarships for Military Children program must be delivered, not just postmarked, to a commissary by close of business Feb. 24.
According to a news release from the Defense Commissary Agency, at least one $1,500 scholarship will be awarded at every commissary with qualified applicants attending an accredited college or university full time in the fall of 2012 or be enrolled in a program of studies designed to transfer directly into a four-year program.
The news release states that applicants must be unmarried dependents of a servicemember on active duty, reservist, guardsman or retiree. The scholarship is also available to survivors of a servicemember who died while on active duty or survivors of a retiree. Applicants must be no older than 21, or 23 if enrolled as a full-time student at a college or university.
