FBI investigating death of Puerto Rico US Army Reserve employee

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — The FBI is investigating the death of an employee with the U.S. Army Reserve in Puerto Rico.

Authorities say the unidentified supply technician died Thursday while throwing trash into a dumpster. FBI spokesman Moises Quinones told reporters that the exact cause of death is under investigation, but that there apparently was an explosion and he was hit by something.

Authorities say witnesses told them they heard a loud noise in the area at the time. Puerto Rico police say the FBI assumed jurisdiction because the death occurred at a federal facility.

The death occurred in the northern city of Guaynabo.
