Shaw Air Force Base ceremony greets new commander
SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. — Shaw Air Force Base commander Col. Clay Hall is passing command of the 20th Fighter Wing to Col. Stephen Jost in a special ceremony.
Friday's ceremony begins at 9:20 a.m. and Maj. Gen. Jack Polumbo, head of the Ninth Air Force, is in charge.
Hall becomes director of operations for the Ninth Air Force at Shaw.
Jost comes to Shaw after serving as the 33rd Operations Group commander at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida.
The 20th Fighter Wing is composed of 18 squadrons overall, including three F-16 squadrons with about 80 aircraft. There are more than 7,000 men and women assigned to the base outside of Sumter.
