Long to replace Zobrist as 31st Fighter Wing commander

AVIANO AIR BASE, Italy — Col. Scott C. Long will assume command of the 31st Fighter Wing later this year, replacing Brig. Gen. Scott Zobrist, who has headed the wing since April 2011.

Long, selected for the rank of brigadier general, currently commands the 388th Fighter Wing at Hill Air Force Base in Utah.

Zobrist has been nominated for his second star and his next assignment is director of requirements for the Air Combat Command at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Va.

The change of command ceremony has not been set, but will likely be held by early summer. Long will be the wing’s 13th commander.
