AFN Asia-Pacific customers urged to check decoder box frequencies

Subscribers to the American Forces Network’s satellite feed in the Asia-Pacific region should check the frequencies of their decoder boxes to avoid potentially losing service next month.

AFN will reduce its satellite transponder frequencies on April 22 in a cost-cutting move unrelated to the recent defense budget sequestration, according to a Defense Media Activity statement.

AFN customers who use satellite dishes and decoder boxes, most of whom live off-base, can find instructions on checking and changing their decoder box frequencies at http://SatChange.myafn.net.

The change affects customers using decoder boxes and satellite dishes in Japan, South Korea, the Philippines and elsewhere in Asia, including consulates and embassies. It does not affect feeds aboard Navy ships, the statement said.
