Get ready for the Academy Awards
The 83rd Academy Awards, set for Feb. 27 at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, Calif., never fails to be a must-see event. Beyond the gorgeous gowns on actresses, and snappy tuxes for the stunning actors, the show promises to be full of surprises, upsets, tears, wit and, of course, awards. This year, the show will be hosted by Anne Hathaway (“Princess Diaries” and “Brokeback Mountain”) and best actor nominee James Franco (“127 Hours”).
Wonder what makes the 10 movies nominated for best picture by the Academy Awards special? Stars and Stripes staffers explain why this year’s crop of nominees is deserving.
And the Oscar for best picture goes to … “The Town!” It’s not nominated?
Well, that’s a shame. I thought it was great. And it’s one of the few good movies I saw this year.
