DOD identifies Germany-based US soldier killed in Afghanistan

The Department of Defense announced late Sunday the death of a soldier serving in Afghanistan.

Sgt. 1st Class Kevin E. Lipari, 39, of Baldwin, N.Y., died Friday in Logar province, according to the news release.

Lipari was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company of the 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, based in Bamberg, Germany. This incident is under investigation, according to the DOD.
