Colbrook takes over as commander of USAG Bavaria

Col. Mark A. Colbrook receives the command guidon from Kathleen Marin, Regional Director Installation Management Command-Europe, during the U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria change of command ceremony, Wednesday, July 2, 2014.

GRAFENWÖHR, Germany – Col. Mark A. Colbrook replaced Col. James E. Saenz as commander of U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria during a change of command ceremony held at Grafenwöhr on Wednesday.

Colbrook takes command of a military community that has changed much under Saenz’s leadership. Gone are the individual commands of Garmisch and Hohenfels, both of which were consolidated under the USAG Bavaria banner during Saenz’s 30-month tenure as commander of the garrison at Grafenwöhr.

Colbrook, a graduate of West Point, comes to Bavaria after working as chief of unmanned aircraft systems in the Army Chief of Staff’s office. Saenz will move on to become the chief of Strategic Initiatives Group for the Assistant Chief of Staff for Installation Management.
