Try Advil instead -- Defense Department bans aspirin

Starting this week all BXs and PXs in combat zones are pulling aspirin from store shelves as part of the Pentagon's ban of the medicine downrange. The problem is the medicine's blood thinning properties, which could present a higher danger of a servicemember bleeding to death if injured in a firefight.
In an order written in March by then assistant secretary of defense for health affairs Ward Casscells, service officials were told to make sure all servicemembers and civilians headed into combat zones stop taking aspirin at least 10 days before they deploy. Exceptions will be made for individuals with doctor's orders to use aspirin for heart issues or other ailments.
Army and Air Force Exchange Services officials said they will still carry other non-aspirin pain relievers, like ibuprofen.
