Military jobs again ranked among most stressful
WASHINGTON — It’s not getting any easier to be an enlisted servicemember.
For the third consecutive year, the website CareerCast.com has pegged the job as one of the worst in America. In 2012 and 2013, the site ranked the profession as one of the three most stressful in the country. This year, they’ve dubbed it the most stressful of all.
“From serving food in the mess hall to fighting a battle on the front line to avoiding land mines along the path to a village, the duties a soldier carries out have very different levels of responsibility,” site officials wrote. The lowsalary doesn’t help alleviate the stress either.
No. 2on the list: military general. Their median salary is seven times higher than that of enlisted personnel, but the website said the stress level is only slightly lower.
Among the least stressful were audiologists, university professors and librarians. Firefighters, public relations executives and newspaper reporters also fell in the top 10 most stressful.
