Commandant: Wear blue trousers to birthday ball
Published: November 1, 2011
WASHINGTON -- Many Marine units will hold the Marine Corps Birthday Ball on Sunday, meaning those Marines are facing an important question: What pants to wear.
Sunday also happens to mark the fall time change, when Marines change from their summer to winter uniforms. That can be a conundrum for Marines, who have to figure out whether to wear the white or blue trousers with the dress blue uniforms.
"It also creates an unnecessary burden when units seek a waiver to wear the winter dress uniform for their ball during the summer uniform season," Marine Corps Commandant Gen. James Amos wrote in a service-wide message on Tuesday.
To achieve uniformity on uniforms, Marines in garrison will wear the blue trousers with their dress blues to the birthday ball from now on, regardless of whether the ball occurs before or after the time change, Amos wrote.
Oorah, Gen. Amos. Oorah, blue trousers.
