Warriors bludgeon Bulldogs for Firecracker women's title

Camp Casey's Lady Warriors made quick work of Camp Humphreys in an all-Korea final in the 15th Firecracker Shootout Interservice Softball Tournament on Monday.

Shaqina Smith belted two in-park home runs and drove in four runs, Cat Catano also knocked in four runs, Lisa Harris had two tripes and three RBIs and Kristen Wolf drove in three runs as the Warriors corraled the Lady Bulldogs 23-3 in three innings.

Smith ripped a two-run shot to right-center, driving in Wolf and the rout was on. Casey sent 17 batters to the plate in the first inning and scored 14 runs. The Warriors took advantage of 10 walks.

Roxy Martin held the Bulldogs to just two hits. Ashley Robertson's bases-loaded double, on a hit which rode the lip of the outfield grass over the head of left-center fielder Veronica Bangi, accounted for Humphreys' runs.

It was Casey's second Firecracker title in three years. It was also the first time since 2007 that Okinawa's Yard Busters, last year's champions, were not in the final. Casey beat Yard Busters in the final two years ago.
