USFJ-AFL playoff picture outcome put on hold

Looks like the wait to find out how the U.S. Forces Japan-American Football League playoff picture will play out will last at least a week longer.

Friday's South Division showdown pitting division leader Joint Task Force against cellar-dwelling Kadena has been postponed due to lack of a field to play the game on, Kadena coach Will Cupp and first-year league commissioner Sean Dath said Thursday.

The game had been scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday at Courtney Bowl, but the league was told the field would not be made available by Marine Corps Community Services Semper Fit officials, which oversee Courtney Bowl.

The postponement could affect the start of the league playoffs, already pushed back a week due to that same game, originally scheduled for May 29, being postponed to July 2 due to rain.

The playoffs are slated to start July 10 with the division semifinals, continue July 17 with the division championship games and conclude on July 24 with the Torii Bowl, the league's championship game.
