Pacific high school track and field Fine Five, pre-Far East

Little has changed since our first ratings on April 29. The Kanto Invitational demonstrated this clearly: It’s all about who brings the best and most balance to next week’s Far East meet:

1, American School In Japan. Trevor Maggart vs. Erik Armes won’t happen at this Far East. The former thus should clean up in the distance events.

2, Nile C. Kinnick, Japan. Ready to pounce in case the Mustangs do stumble, but I’m not counting on it.

3, Seoul American. The big question: Do they have enough polish in their running events to overcome lack thereof in their jumps, throws and hurdles?

4. Kadena, Okinawa. Girls sprints, Derrick Taylor in the hurdles should keep Panthers in the hunt.

5. Kubasaki, Okinawa. If only Allie Reichenberg was a fan of the 800. And can Jarrett Mitchell overcome Yokota’s Preston Brooks?

Dropped out – Zion Christian Academy. Waiting in the wings in case somebody stumbles at Far East.
